I only read the first of this Soldier Son trilogy. I couldn’t stand Navarre and his self-pity, plus the obesity angle was disturbing. I had to go back and read the Liveship books to get the taste out of my head…
Hi Josianne – glad you like it :) I’ll be posting some new reviews soon, have been a bit slack recently. I know what you mean about Soldier’s Son, his fatalism and pessimism really annoy me. I’m re-reading the Liveship books at the moment, for about the 10th time! I’m at the bit where Serilla and the Satrap come in, not my favourite part, as Serilla get’s such a raw deal. Keep reading….
